Serving on the Board of Supervisors has been the honor of a lifetime. I’m running for re-election because I want to continue the fight to improve the lives of Riverside County residents. Although the challenges we face are real, I am proud of the work we are doing every day to reduce homelessness, build affordable housing, improve frontline services, keep neighborhoods safe, and work with industry to create good-paying jobs.”

Manuel “Manny” Perez, the son of immigrant farmworkers Virginia and Manuel, was born and raised in the Coachella Valley. He attended local public schools and graduated from the University of California, Riverside. Perez taught at a local middle school and went on to earn a Master of Education degree in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy from Harvard University.

Perez served on the Coachella Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees from 2004 to 2008. He served our region in the California State Assembly for three terms between 2008 and 2014, rising to the role of majority leader. Prior to being appointed to the Board of Supervisors in 2017, Perez served on the Coachella City Council. He was elected to his first full-term on the board in 2018.

As a Supervisor, Perez has focused on finding commonsense solutions to improve and protect the quality of life in Riverside County’s 4th District. His many accomplishments include working to: build a new library in Desert Hot Springs; open two new fire stations, improve access to affordable housing; author a first of its kind ordinance to help the date industry, and keep Lake Cahuilla open.

Perez resides in Coachella with Gladis, his wife of 27 years. They are the proud parents of two grown sons.
